We have an exciting opportunity to join the Manurewa Local Board team at Te Paataka Koorero o Waimaahia as the Senior Librarian Children & Youth.
This is a permanent opportunity, working 40 hours per week. Our library is open six days a week and this role will work an alternating Saturday.
Waimaahia is a Kia Ora te Whaanau Hub that seeks to respond to the call of whaanau aspirations to create a place of value and belonging by weaving te ao Maaori through our whare. It is a co-located site, that delivers to community in partnership with Leisure.
The three pou this whare operates under are:
- **Pou Maatauranga**: An inclusive approach to activate spaces to learn and play.
- **Pou Hauora**:Whānau live well, are happy and healthy.
- **Pou Ooritetanga**:Equitable access to facilities to grow community wellbeing kaupapa.
This whare is a bold attempt to indigenise how we create space, how we manage resources, how we build teams, how we listen, how we act, how we serve.
**He angituutanga: The opportunity**
This role is vital for connecting children, youth, families and whaanau with services and programmes in the Manurewa Local Board libraries. You will be supporting the leadership team in the day-to-day running of the library and provide opportunities to engage the community in the design of services and initiatives targeting children, youth and families. A key aspect of this role is that you be a role model and coach in providing excellent customer service to children, youth and the wider whaanau.
**He koorero moou: About you**
To be succesdful in this role you will need:
- Ability to lead from an indigenous world view, recognizing mana atua, mana tangata, and mana whenua in your practice.
- Experience working with Tamariki, Rangatahi me Whaanau, and leading in the areas of maatauranga, ooritetanga, and hauora.
- Ability to coach, motivate, and inspire the library team in designing and delivering innovative programmes and events for Tamariki me Rangatahi.
- Hold or be actively working towards professional LIANZA registration.
