We currently have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our teams as a Senior Librarian, based at Ōtāhuhu Library. Some flexibility will be required as you may need to work from other sites in the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu local board (Māngere Bridge, Māngere East and Māngere Town Centre Libraries).

In this senior, customer focused role, you will be leading and contributing to the day to day running of the library and frontline library & council services. You will work closely with our Senior Librarians team across our local board to design and deliver literacy and learning activities and initiatives that target Tamariki, rangatahi, Pasifika and Māori whānau, and are driven by community need. A key aspect of this role is that you will be a role model and coach in providing excellent customer service to the local community and surrounding areas.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity working 40 hours per week. Roster includes weekend day and four weekdays, with potential late-night shifts.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

We are seeking a community leader, ideally with experience working with diverse communities. Strong communication and digitals skills are a must, as well as an ability to foster literacy and community engagement.

You will bring with you a sound knowledge of library technologies and processes, enthusiasm, and an ability to collaborate in the development, implementation and delivery of services and programmes.

A team member who can demonstrate am ability to:

- Build and maintain relationships with local diverse groups, including our Māori, Pasifika and new immigrant communities
- An ability to provide good leadership with strong communication skills
- Be the senior on site and have capability, capacity and confidence to lead when required
- Skill in planning and evaluating innovative programmes and events
- An aptitude for building relationships with ethnic and diverse communities, whānau, schools, churches, local organisations, other council services and peers
- Comfortable with technology and able to support customers to successfully use information resources and devices that are available at the library
- Willing to work with the library team in the delivery and design of innovative programmes and events
- Strong leadership in community relationships
- LIANZA registration
- NZ Divers Licence preferred
- Work collaboratively with teams in the Local board, sharing skills, knowledge and expertise.
