**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**
We currently have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team as a Senior Mobile Librarian. There is flexibility for where you can be based as this is a mobile position that requires travel throughout the Auckland region, however our fleet of vehicles is based in Henderson.
This is a community engagement and outreach role requiring an energetic and active person to join our team. The role fulfils a vital role in sharing the rich resources of libraries, and assisting in providing Council and Community information with Aucklanders of all ages and physical abilities.
In this role you will use your excellent people skills to connect with people of all ages, providing a modern outreach service to a range of communities across Auckland. You will bring a library service, including programmes and activities to Aucklanders who are unable or find it difficult to access their own local library. Through a variety of library services, programmes and events you will be a means of social connection for isolated individuals and communities.
**He kōrero mōu: About you**
We are seeking an experienced librarian with LIANZA professional registration.
Your natural ability to relate well to people of all ages and backgrounds will enable you to effectively understand individual and community needs and deliver services, programmes, and events to meet those needs. You will have excellent digital skills and enthusiasm for sharing those skills with people who may have very little knowledge and understanding of the digital world.
Confidence in speaking to groups and engaging with older people and people with disabilities is essential.
You may also have some face-to-face customer services experience. You will be flexible to travel to different areas in Auckland, be prepared to drive the mobile vans and as such have a clean NZ driver’s license. This role is also required to attend events and pop-up services in a variety of settings, and to support the team as required.
As a Senior Mobile Librarian, you will have the opportunity to not only strengthen your connection with communities but also be encouraged to engage in Community led design to shape the services you will deliver. You will be an integral part of the wider Mobile and Access team, and will participate in developing the service.
This is a full time, permanent role. Our team works across seven days a week so flexibility around working hours including weekend days and events participation is required.
**Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer**
You can expect variety in your work and a supportive work environment for you to thrive. As Auckland's largest employer, we embrace diversity and encourage well-being at all levels of life. This is a leadership role, where not only are you in a position to make a significant contribution to the people and diverse communities of Tāmaki Makaurau, if you thrive and gain satisfaction from leading with authenticity and developing and inspiring others - the scope is all here.
On top of this, as part of our Auckland Council Group, you will gain access to many benefits and discounts. Click this link to find out more about our employee benefits package.
This is a permanent position working 40 hours per week. Our library is open seven days a week so flexibility around working hours, including a rotational weekend day (most likely Saturday), is required.
