Site leadership for Auckland processing plant

- Add value to this dynamic, growing business
**The opportunity**
This is a unique business, providing resource recovery, re-processing and distribution services to the New Zealand manufacturing sector. Are you a high-performing Production Manager looking for a step into Plant Management, or an experienced Operations Manager seeking a more complex, autonomous position? If so, here is a great opportunity to make your mark in a role crucial to the company’s success.
**What will you be doing?**
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the Auckland processing plant. This will include management of the processing and logistics operations, equipment maintenance and operation, product quality and compliance, and HSE management.
This will include:
- Leadership - lead and develop a small but dedicated team of Operators and Drivers.
- Continuous improvement - identifying and executing improvement opportunities that drive sustainable gains and improvements to production processes while maintaining quality standards.
- Planning - develop and manage production plan to ensure best use of resources (plant, vehicles and staff). This is a JIT environment, balancing product in and processing with customer demand so the ability to develop and manage the production plan and resource utilisation is critical.
- Budget responsibility - in conjunction with the MD, develop and manage Auckland site production budget including developing business cases for capital projects.
- Engineering - develop and manage the site’s preventative maintenance program, manage R&M activities, and oversee engineering projects including major plant upgrade and the installation and commissioning of new production equipment.
- Customer relationship management. Work closely with customers to better align the businesses and ensure expectations are met. Become involved in business development initiatives.
**Your skills and attributes**:
- A proven track record managing small to medium, complex processing operations.
- Exceptional leadership skills. People want to follow you.
- Excellent commercial acumen.
- You are able to look at the bigger picture, using common sense to make quick and logical decisions.
- Sound understanding of supply chain, particularly production and transport planning.
- The major capital investment in the pipeline, a background in Engineering / Project Management will be a major advantage.
- Hands-on. This role will not suit a desk jockey. You enjoy being on the floor, proactively addressing and solving issues, and working alongside your close-knit team.
