We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join our dynamic team and play a crucial role in keeping our roads safe, efficient and accessible for everyone and making a tangible impact in our community's infrastructures.
**Te āheinga: The opportunity**
As our next Network Engineer and reporting to the Roading Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing South Waikato District Council’s roading operational works, contract management team, and contracts including sealed maintenance, reseals, vegetation and weed control, rural and urban mowing, and street sweeping. Specifically, this includes:
- Overseeing and supervising four maintenance contracts within our roading portfolio.
- Preparing plans, estimates, specifications, reports and other related matters associated with operational and maintenance activities.
- Budget management, quality project execution, and timely delivery of required outcomes.
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including colleagues, elected members, iwi, community organisation, and other government agencies.
- Effective leadership through coaching/mentoring, monitoring and supervising two direct reports.
**He kōrero mōu: About you**
We are looking for a motivated and forward-looking individual that has:
- A tertiary qualification in civil engineering (NZCE/NZDE) or other relevant discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in contract management in the delivery of roading services and road maintenance contracts.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the RAMM system, NZ Standards, NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, Austroads and Council, and traffic and transportation engineering practice.
- A commitment to leading and developing highly effective teams with a focus on quality outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to network, consult, engage, and work collaboratively with stakeholders.
