**Te whiwhinga mahi/The Opportunity**

As a Senior Advisor, you will be responsible for:

- Monitoring and coordinating work programme planning and reporting across Ātea a Rangi
- Coordinating and providing quality assurance for the Group's official correspondence (including ministerial, parliamentary questions), responses to Ministry, and Ministerial requests, and whole-of-Ministry planning and processes (including annual reviews).
- Identifying, creating and participating in the implementation of business process improvements, enabling tools, and systems that deliver tangible value to Ātea a Rangi
- Monitoring, reporting on, and providing sound financial advice on the budget, priorities, spending and variances across Ātea a Rangi
- Taking an active role in the recruitment and induction processes for new employees, including adherence to process and best practice
- Planning and managing the successful delivery of hui, wānanga and key stakeholder events.

Ātea a Rangi is strongly driven by a kaupapa Māori approach to our work and committed to working together and with our colleagues for the benefit of Māori and ultimately, all of Aotearoa New Zealand. We work collaboratively with other agencies and a range of people in the Ministry of Justice.

- Professional Qualifications and Technical Skills_
- A high level of business acumen
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and planning skills
- Whakaaro Māori - Knowledge and understanding of te ao Māori and tirohanga Māori
- A tertiary degree in a relevant field is preferable. Equivalent life experience will be considered.
- Work Experience _
- Familiarity working within te ao Māori and understanding of te reo, tikanga, kawa and mātauranga Māori.
- Experience in financial and work programme planning and reporting, and business risk management
- Understanding of public sector systems and processes, including financial accountability requirements
- Analysing organisational needs and developing business processes to meet these
- Experience in working with Māori groups and organisations
- Relationship management demonstrated by establishment and maintenance of a range of effective business/operational management inter-relationships across business units and/or a network of professionals, managers, and external parties.
