Learning Navigator
InZone is looking for a Learning Navigator that plays a crucial role in ensuring rangatahi are supported and guided throughout the navigation of their learning journey.
**About the Company**:
The InZone project is a story that started back in 2011, and has been helping transform the lives of Māori and Pasifika rangatahi ever since - all within a supportive whānau environment.
They achieve this by providing boarding kāinga (hostels) ‘InZone’ for Auckland Grammar School and Epsom Girls Grammar School, working closely with the schools to support, inspire and empower rangatahi to reach their full potential. Through their time at InZone, rangatahi are immersed in all aspects of the community, with a focus on academic, sporting and cultural activities.
**The Opportunity**:
Ako is the notion that learning and development is reciprocal within the kainga environment. Rangatahi are empowered to engage in their learning with the support and enablement from the Kainga. As a Learning Navigator, you’ll play a crucial role in this, establishing positive and respectful relationships with rangatahi to ensure they’re fully engaged in their learning and development.
**This role will see you**:
- Managing the academic tutoring programme, recruiting and ensuring best use of tutors
- Establishing an academic development programme for Year 9 and 10 students
- Running compulsory Ako Wānanga prior to exams to ensure Rangatahi are well prepared.
- Ensuring that all students are aware of and accessing the opportunities and support provided by AGS and EGGS (e.g. before school maths tutoring, using school libraries after school etc.)
- Building effective relationships with tertiary, vocational and other educational providers and local employers to provide opportunities for students, including internships
**The Fit**:
- Ideally holds a secondary teaching qualification or education-based qualification and can demonstrate a thorough understanding of the secondary school curriculum, systems and structure
- Has experience working with Māori and Pasifika students
- The ability to recognise and work alongside rangatahi with diverse learning styles.
- Excellent spoken and written English and good understanding of Te Reo Māori or Pasifika languages
