WaiTech, a trusted private training establishment since 1992, and the education arm of Te Whānau O Waipareira Trust is looking for a passionate **Kaiako (Tutor)** to join our whānau. Based in West Auckland, WaiTech delivers high-quality education that uplifts Māori communities through Kaupapa Māori values and practices.

**The mahi**:
As a Kaiako, you’ll empower tauira by delivering the NZ Diploma in Whānau Ora (L5), fostering an inclusive, culturally safe learning environment. You’ll guide them to understand and use Whānau Ora principles in real-life situations.

This is a fixed term, part time position, working 25 hours per week until Dec 2025. Mainly across Monday to Friday however some weekend work may be required at times throughout the year.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Facilitate engaging lessons aligned with the Whānau Ora curriculum and Kaupapa Māori values.
- Mentor and guide tauira to achieve academic and personal success.
- Plan and deliver effective lesson plans, assessments, and resources.
- Ensure assessments comply with NZQA and ‘Rules of Evidence’ guidelines.
- Build strong relationships with tauira, colleagues, and the community.
- Integrate and promote Te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga across all teaching practices.
- Support tauira to develop practical skills and knowledge in whanaungatanga, kaitiakitanga, and manaakitanga, enabling them to advance the wellbeing of whānau.

**Ideally you will have**:

- Competency in Te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga.
- 2+ years’ experience within the Education sector (experience within adult teaching would be preferred)
- A qualification in education or a related field (Minimum 1 level above Diploma preferred)
- Excellent IT, organisational, and communication skills.
- Experience working within Whānau Ora programmes or similar initiatives.
- Fluency in te reo Māori or a willingness to develop language skills.
