Manager Resource Consents and Compliance

**About the role**
We are looking for an experienced Manager, Resource Consents and Compliance who has what it takes to succeed in a dynamic and challenging role, who can really help us to 'grow well'. Reporting to the Group Manager Regulatory and Environment, you will lead the Resource Consents and Compliance team by ensuring all resource consents, compliance, enforcement and related resource management functions and processes are effectively and efficiently delivered in accordance with the District Plan and legislation.
You will be an experienced people leader, who ensures consistent and equitable decision making can withstand robust scrutiny and that best practice is achieved. The Manager plays a critical role in leading the day-to-day operation of the team, along with the team leaders, while providing mentoring and coaching to team leaders and enabling staff to perform their roles effectively.
**Skills and experience**:
- Five or more years experience in a leadership role and a relevant tertiary qualification(s) in planning, resource management and/or land development
- Extensive experience in resource management and/or regulatory enforcement, preferably in local government
- Working knowledge of all statutes and regulations relevant to the resource management functions of a council
- Demonstrated sound problem-solving skills, good judgment and ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Demonstrated ability to effectively adapt to change within the resource management sector, drive change within a team, and keep up to date with legislative change
- Demonstrated sound level of computer literacy and a proven ability to learn new systems as required
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to communicate with, and be sensitive to the needs of people sometimes in stressful situations
- Demonstrated excellent numeric skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Demonstrated commitment to the Principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and an awareness of Māori perspectives and issues relevant to Māori
- Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to customer service and capability for working with a wide range of people within and outside the organisation
- Current and valid NZ driver's licence with no restrictions
