**Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role**

As a member of the Governance and Legal Services team, you will bring your legal experience to support teams across the organisation in a range of property and commercial matters, contributing to a range of complex and exciting projects within the local community at a time of significant growth and change.
- Provide legal advice and assistance to staff across a range of Council teams with a focus on Property, Strategic Development, Resource Consents and Infrastructure, contributing to the management of risk and good decision-making across significant and complex projects for the local community.
- Assist in managing litigation and contract disputes with suppliers, contractors, property owners and ratepayers, developers, and other community organisations.
- Work to support Council with a variety of property law matters including titles, leases, easements, liability risks, subdivision bonds, encumbrances and sale and purchase agreements,
- Contribute to continuous improvement in the property and commercial legal areas enhancing systems, practices and resources including leading a review of Council’s legal templates and improving knowledge management practices.

**Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring**
- An experienced lawyer with a minimum of 4 years’ post-admission experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in property and commercial law including acquisitions and disposals; lease, license, easement and encroachment agreements; construction contracts, supply of goods and services
- Demonstrated experience drafting and interpreting contracts and other legal documents and leading negotiations with third parties
- Demonstrated ability to identify, analyse and communicate legal issues and analysis in a clear, concise, and timely manner
- Demonstrated ability to effectively negotiate and manage external relationships with a high degree of professionalism
- Eligible to obtain a New Zealand practising certificate
