Ko wai mātou | About us The Auckland Transport Operation Centre (ATOC) is all about enabling customers in real time to make smarter, safer, and more reliable journeys. In the world of traffic engineering this means improving customer journeys though pro-active and evidence-based network optimisation, supporting safer and efficient network design, and mitigating the impacts of planned and unplanned events on the network. ATOC has collective responsibility for managing the Upper North Island State Highway network from Taupo to Cape Reinga and all other transport operations in the Auckland region - including all roads, public transport facilities, parking operations support, and special events. Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity You'll be part of a highly motivated, professional team operating as a joint venture between Auckland Transport (Local Government) and Waka Kotahi (Central Government). As the Lead Advisor you'll support the ATOC Group Manager (GM) and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) by providing thought leadership, advice and support on how to consistently evolve and improve. This is a pivotal role in the Senior Leadership Team, and your key deliverables will be to take ownership of the design and delivery of ATOCs stakeholder management plan, considering the needs of the stakeholders and advising the SLT of areas of focus and improvement, and alongside the GM will lead the development of the long-term strategy of ATOC, Partnership Agreement Review and the business plan to align with the Waka Kotahi and Auckland Transport Strategies.This position offers lots of variety, there is plenty of opportunity to shape the role and work with a wide range of people to make a positive difference. Ko koe tēnei | About you To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Conceptual and critical thinking skills, including experience contributing to the development of frameworks, planning and reporting
- Experience in leading and influencing internal change including shaping and creating frameworks and best practice
- Practiced in developing and driving business plans and including their monitoring and reporting
- Proficiency in compiling reports, preparing briefings, papers and preparing and giving presentations
- The ability to create documents that influence and easily transform from strategy to operations
- Skilled in problem solving, analysis, cause and effect, high ambiguity and / or complex situations

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.Along with our other benefits we also have new Waka Kotahi Life, Income Protection and Critical Illness Insurance scheme available for permanent employees.
