At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.
We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

**About our group and team**
The Secondary Tertiary team sits within the Te Poutāhū and covers the transition from senior secondary through to tertiary and employment.
Te Poutāhū delivers and maintains critical services to support responsive learner pathways from early childhood into further education, training, the workforce, and society. Te Poutāhū performs a crucial role working between the strategy and policy teams, and the sector facing functions. The Secondary Tertiary team is responsible for operational policy, curriculum and support programmes for Year 11-13 learners, and the secondary-tertiary interface. This includes senior secondary curriculum, NCEA (including implementing the NCEA Review changes through the Review of Achievement Standards (RAS)) and secondary-tertiary programmes.
**Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role**
The Lead Advisor, Pathways and Transitions provides leadership over the design, development, and implementation of policy, and on the design and delivery of curriculum and assessment policy, tools, and services. The role ensures that a deliberate focus on student achievement is maintained by providing thought leadership and guidance in senior secondary education, with a focus on the Secondary-Tertiary interface.
The Lead Advisor works closely with a team of Senior Advisors and is responsible for the coordination of work and the fostering of a team culture in which values the diversity of people, experiences, and backgrounds.
The Lead Advisor is part of the team currently delivering the NCEA Review and related initiatives to support social, emotional and life skills education, careers education, and vocational education in schools.

**Mōhou ake | About you**
- You will have an interest in Universal Design for Learning and an approach to learning that is fully inclusive and promotes success for all learners
- Prior stakeholder engagement experience as you will be working with the wider Te Poutāhū team and Ministry.
- You will work consistently to established timeframes, managing own input, and ensuring others' contributions are made to enable work to progress.
- You will work to translate strategies, priorities and opportunities into coherent packages of work with clear mandate, scope, logic, outcomes, delivery roadmaps and resourcing, with a focus on moving ideas from development to delivery.
- Your communication skills will be excellent, and you will be able to act proactively to ensure smooth team operations and effective collaboration
- Familiar knowledge and understanding of sensitive cultural values and have a good understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Experience and qualifications
- You will have experience in accessibility and inclusion in an education context
- You will have experience in design and develop of professional learning resources for Kaiako
- You will have experience in leading a project from design to delivery
- Experience in working within the public sector and understanding of the political environment and how related issues should be managed.
- Strategic thinking (i.e. sees issues through a range of lenses and stakeholder perspectives; and recognises broader implications and connections between issues).
- An understanding of end-to-end cycle of Procurement and Contracts within Government.
- Ability to confidently and appropriately engage with a range of stakeholders from different cultures and backgrounds.
