**Hours: 30 per week**

**Payrate : $25.00 to $30.00 per hour (depending on skills)**

We are looking for an experienced **cook** for our Souvlaki store in Canterbury. If you have a passion for customer service and food service, this is the perfect opportunity for you to showcase your skills in a fun, fast-paced environment.

As a **Cook**, you will be responsible for preparing Mediterranean/Greek-style food, especially souvlaki, kebabs, and grilled dishes.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prep and cook menu items for the souvlaki kitchen including meats, breads, sauces, salads, and hot snacks, following standard recipes.
- Season food during cooking, portion accurately, garnish, and plate to service standards.
- Operate and monitor grills, fryers, ovens, and other equipment, including setting and regulating temperatures.
- Check the quality and freshness of ingredients on receipt and during prep, and record any wastage.
- Store food safely in temperature-controlled facilities and label, date, and rotate stock using first-in, first-out.
- Prepare items to meet special dietary requirements and allergen requests according to house procedures.
- Maintain high standards of food safety and cleanliness, including daily and end-of-day cleaning of benches, utensils, equipment, and extraction.
- Assist with basic menu planning, prep lists, and estimating daily food requirements; communicate low stock and place orders as directed.
- Train and guide junior staff in safe food handling, recipe execution, portion control, and equipment use.
- Receive deliveries, check temperatures, label and store correctly, and complete required records.

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience as a cook for minimum 2 years OR level 4 cookery qualification.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Good time management and teamwork skills
