**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

As our Technical Lead, you will help build and maintain a high performing national team of transport planning professionals who provide transport planning leadership and capability in the development of transport system solutions. You will provide technical thought leadership with regards to transport planning and support the Practice Leads with coaching and mentoring of Transport Planners to ensure best practice is delivered.

Other key accountabilities include:

- Ensure the transport planning teams deliver best practice transport planning and project development
- Lead the development, implementation and embedding of business improvement initiatives, test and champion new ideas and improve our transport planning practice.
- Work alongside the Practice Leads in providing technical mentoring and coaching.
- Build strong relationships across NZTA in order to be able to effectively influence and lead across the broader business.
- Contribute as a member of the Transport Planning leadership team.
- Collaborate with external consultants and the wider sector to enable the sharing of ideas, insights, lessons learnt and connect to provide best practice outcomes.
- Support the building of highly engaged teams, by working with practice leads to ensure our people have the capability and the tools to deliver NZTA priorities and outcomes.
- Support the development of career pathways, by working with practice leads, to grow and retain high quality transport planning capability.
