**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

We have an exciting opportunity available to join our newly created Operations Planning team whose number one priority is to provide short term plan of opportunities on the network through a good understand on network performance and changes and collaboration with the Network Operations Planning Group.

The Senior Transportation Engineer works in an adaptable and fluid way on key projects and initiatives as required to enable collaboration, cross-skilling and development. This role will work in complex systems to provide a future focused outcome of the network over the next 5 years to align to AT's strategic aims.

You will support the Operational Planning team and Optimisation Technical Lead to provide expertise for investigation and delivery of timely and accurate advice and data to support decision making for projects, land use consenting and network performance.

You will:

- Work as part of multi-disciplinary teams, providing technical operational planning & engineering advice.
- Provide Operational Planning and transport engineering expertise, reviews and assessments into projects and proposed demand changes being carried out on the network.
- Undertake regular performance reviews and audits of network to prioritise works.
- Preparation of area transport system plans to outline outcomes on the network with changes to demand, projects and proposed operational changes.
- Collaborate with project managers and other specialists to ensure programmes are delivered on time, within budgets and to required standards.

Ideally you will have:

- Minimum of 5 years' experience in general traffic engineering, preferred experience in analysis and transport planning.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Transport Planning or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in use of traffic and road safety simulation tools.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong strategic and operational relationships.
- Good understanding and appreciation of the workings and functions of local government, including current and future business drivers and statutory requirements.
- Excellent organisational and forward planning skills.
- Ability to navigate through the complexities and meeting the agreed deadlines.
