Transitioning Auckland's transport network on such a mammoth scale is no mean feat and we need a talented team to ensure we are up to this task.

**Te Whiwhinga mahi - The Opportunity**

We are looking for a Principal Transport Planner to initiate and lead the development and delivery of transport system plans and business cases that address multi-modal strategic transport system outcomes, growth and development and changing level of service demand.

These plans will inform AT's long-term investment needs and create a prioritised pipeline of investment, to be funded through the Regional Land Transport Plan or other funding mechanisms.

The role also requires:

- Oversight and review of work produced by professional advisors and consultants to ensure robust process and buy-in from stakeholders.
- Working closely with other teams across Auckland Transport, the Auckland Council group and other key partners; and
- Contributing to strategic transport planning processes.

Key skills and experience we are seeking include:

- A relevant tertiary qualification in transport planning, urban planning, project management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 to 10 years' progressive leadership experience in feasibility studies and business case development.
- Demonstrable experience and understanding of transport planning, urban planning, local and central government policies, legislation, and business case processes relating to transport and funding.
- Demonstrable experience developing robust long-term investment plans, ideally in transport and the public sector, as well as experience in cross-departmental/agency or complex/major projects.
- Proven ability to influence and negotiate through effective communication and interpersonal skills, and to build credibility and rapport with stakeholders at all levels. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across functional lines.
- A proven track record of sound strategic judgment and the ability to cope with business complexity.
