Monday - Friday (6:00am until approximately 2.30pm), Saturday half day when required.

Can you deliver the best food service experience in the industry? Are you an experienced chef and food service superstar looking to showcase your skills and take hospital food to the next level?

We are seeking a talented a-la-carte chef operating at a high level who is able to design and create weekly menus. With the support of two catering assistants, you will be a hands-on leader actively involved in the cooking and service of all meals, the day-to-day running of the kitchen, and making our client smile

This position is based at Gillies Hospital in Epsom, Auckland where we are committed to providing restaurant quality meals and catering for special dietary requirements on request. Gillies Hospital is part of the Southern Cross group and is designed with a focus on short stay surgery and family-centred care, with four theatres, a purpose built day-stay facility and 16 inpatient beds with ensuite facilities.

This position is a pivotal part of our team and requires a chef with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience who can:

- Prepare, cook, and serve a-la-carte restaurant quality food for patients and staff
- Design and create weekly menus
- Discuss food preparation issues with managers and kitchen staff
- Show extensive knowledge of dietary requirements
- Estimate food and labour cost and manage within budget
- Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Demonstrate understanding of, and ability to implement New Zealand Food Control & safety regulations
- Communicate effectively and show moderate computer literacy
- Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment
- Have excellent communication skills and a flexible/can-do, committed attitude
- Be friendly and engaging and able to lead a productive and positive team
- Be passionate about good food, and great service
- Have good time management skills
