Context of the role
The System, Strategy and Policy Directorate has been established to ensure that Te Aka Whai Ora is influential in shaping hauora Māori policy within Aotearoa for generations to come.
Our role within Te Aka Whai Ora will help to ensure that our strategic and policy direction reflects the voice of whanāu and communities and that the health system overall is held accountable for its ability to deliver to the obligations under Te Tiriti O Waitangi and to secure equitable health outcomes for Māori.
Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
Walking alongside the Deputy Chief Executive and Directorate Senior Leadership Team, you will establish, monitor and coordinate a work programme that ensures the smooth operational and administrative functions of the Directorate.
More specifically you will;
- Work across the directorate to co-ordinate and lead the review and delivery of briefings, progress updates, ELT and board papers, and responses to requests from Minister's offices.
- Build and advance the deliberate strategic alliances of Te Aka Whai Ora, across programmes. This includes connecting effectively across Te Aka Whai Ora, Manatū Hauora and Te Whatu Ora for the purposes of coordinating work streams and advice.
- Coordinate and lead out all administrative, operational and business support matters, including playing a key role in HR, Finance and secretarial responsibilities.
- Develop and monitor the directorate's strategic plan.

**To be successful you will have**:
- Minimum bachelor's degree level tertiary qualification and/or equivalent work experience relevant to the role.
- Ability to work with and influence senior leaders and decision-makers to achieve organisational objectives.
- Experience in leading transformational systems change and projects with respect to implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- A sense of purpose for working within hauora Māori and how your role contributes to supporting the business.
