**About the Role**
The primary purpose of the role in the Māori Health Pipeline team within Health Gain Development will be initially focused on lung cancer screening. You'll be part of our team of research nurses who play a key role in undertaking lung cancer screening trials, screening a cohort, which includes a focus on Māori participants across the Northern Region and Mid-Central district.
Working within a team of study nurses, you will ensure smooth trial processes, deliver quality, culturally responsive participant experiences, and provide clinical compliance assurance. Your responsibilities include conducting assessments, managing results, obtaining consent, and collecting data for research. Additionally, you will liaise with primary care, engage participants, and coordinate support throughout the research projects.
Our research programme is being conducted across the Northern Region and also in the Mid-Central district, and hence will require the ability to travel to other research sites on a regular basis.
Bringing a strong understanding of te ao Māori, particularly as it relates to research approaches, you will ensure Māori voices and aspirations are reflected throughout the work. You'll confidently lead engagement with participants in a culturally respectful and responsive manner.
**About** the Team/Service/ Location**
The Health Gain Development team undertakes robust implementation science research on key health interventions to address the life expectancy gap for both Māori and Pacific peoples when compared with other ethnicities in Aotearoa, as well as other priority health interventions. Our work covers the development of innovative equity approaches to healthcare interventions from early research right through to scaled up implementation plans.
**About you**
As an experienced Registered Nurse, you will possess a wealth of knowledge in your area of practice who is able to provide innovative and advanced specialist nursing care in direct care delivery.
You'll be comfortable contributing to the development of integrated service delivery across the continuum of care, including one to one patient management through to understanding the impact of processes of care on populations of patients at local and system level. A strong understanding of the spectrum of Māori experiences of healthcare is advantageous for this role.
You will be required to work with a range of stakeholders across the organisation, in a national, regional and local level in this role so you will need to be an excellent communicator with a strong commitment to working collaboratively, and be able to build strong relationships across the organisation and understand the different needs required across teams and functions.
- Registered Nurse: RCpN, RGON, BHSC
- Current APC as Registered Nurse in New Zealand
- Postgraduate [PG] Certificate in specialty practice. Further research qualification
- GCP certification training
- Dedicated interest in developing research nurse expertise
- Experience as part of a research team
- Experience in surgery, hospital or lab settings, or clinical trials in the primary or tertiary setting
- Familiarity and experience working with Māori Providers
- Good attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate work
