**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The Liver Research Unit (LRU) is part of the New Zealand Liver Transplant Unit based at Auckland City Hospital. The growing team work on international clinical trials in, hepatocellular carcinoma, fatty liver, rare liver diseases and viral hepatitis.

We have a great opportunity for a senior nurse with strong leadership and advanced nursing skills to join as Speciality Clinical Nurse in the Liver Research Unit. This role is an advanced nursing practice role that encompasses responsibility for improving the quality of professional nursing practice and safe guarding high standards of care in Te Toka Tumai (Auckland hospital) by supporting an environment in which excellence in clinical care can flourish.

A comprehensive orientation and on-going education in a supportive team based environment are all part of your welcome to this role.

Your primary role will include:

- Facilitate the smooth administration of research projects based within the service and act both in a leadership and educative capacity as a resource for all clinical personnel, participants and their family/whanau.
- Act as a role model for excellence in clinical research, Mentor junior research staff (depending on experience) and provides expert assessment, nursing care, interventions and education to study participants.

**This is a permanent -fulltime role, Monday to Sunday and after hours (excluding over-night shifts).**

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**

To ensure success in the role you will need to have an extensive acute nursing background and be practicing at a senior level preferably with a postgraduate certificate or diploma in speciality nursing practice.

You will be able to demonstrate expert knowledge, advanced clinical skills (including IV cannulation) and be an excellent communicator and team member. You demonstrate the ability to work independently and as a work as part of a team.

Key to your success will be aligning with our Te Toka Tumai values. Working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice Guidelines is also beneficial.
