Rotorua, New Zealand Rotorua District Council Full time

Position Description

**Wanted: Senior Digital Content Specialist**

Supporting the Design and Production Manager, the Senior Digital Content Specialist is responsible for supporting the promotion of Rotorua Lakes Council through visual story-telling using a variety of audio visual and photography methods. This includes creating content to support behaviour change and educational awareness.

Despite the rumours, life at Rotorua Lakes Council is never dull. We are a large and busy organisation, so the ability to handle a variety of competing priorities and reactive jobs is a must. There is always plenty going on and there will be lots of opportunities for the right person to flex some creative muscle.

Working alongside two Senior Designers, a Digital Media Production Specialist and an Animator, you will help Council reach a range of audiences with engaging, effective visual communications using strategies as your road map; confectionery as bait and coffee for the occasional bribe along the way.

The ability to handle a variety of competing priorities and reactive jobs is a must (check out the job description for more on this), as is the flexibility to work outside of office hours as required.

In return for your skills and experience you will be supported by a strong, diverse and fun team including specialists across media, communications, digital, animation, marketing, and design.

**Our preferred team mate will have**:

- Blood type: Creative
- Demonstrable hands-on digital creative development experience and a passion for storytelling excellence.
- Relevant experience (3+ years) in the digital creative space, especially videography and photography
- Relevant tertiary qualification (B.Creative Tech or similar)
- Excellence in delivering client focussed outcomes with the ability to explain to clients how a brief has been interpreted, including a demonstrated ability to storyboard
- The ability to manage a job from concept through to delivery of final product
- Proven experience in and highly proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud - particularly Photoshop and Premiere Pro. Design skills a bonus.
- In-depth knowledge of pre and post-production processes
- Solid understanding of social networking sites and digital marketing tools.
- 101 UAV and 102 UAV qualified (or desire to obtain these)
- A keen interest in the workings of local and/or central government; and the Rotorua community
- A genuine team mind-set - we look out for each other and are a close knit team

Te Kaunihera o nga Roto o Rotorua (Rotorua Lakes Council) is committed to biculturalism and working in partnership with Te Arawa, our local iwi. We value staff who have an openness and appreciation of Maori values, te reo and tikanga Maori.

Think we might be the next great fit for you? We would love to see a range of your work so send us a link to your portfolio and get in touch to have a chat
