The **Gisborne District Council **is on the hunt for a **Consents Manager **to lead their District Consents team in the contribution to the sustainable management of the regions natural and physical resources. The Gisborne District Council’s purpose is to work with the Tairawhiti community to protect and manage our precious taonga of rivers, soils, air, coast, and biodiversity for health, wellbeing, and connectivity.

As a Consents Manager you will be responsible for directing the activities of the Consents Team. The Consents Manager will also assist the Director Environmental Services and Protection to carry out the Council’s obligations under relevant statutes, policies, under the Resource Management Act. The Consents Manager is responsible for several key functions such as:

The provisions of information to customers, potential applicants, interest groups and the general public
- Providing integrated customer advice through multi-disciplinary teams
**About you**

**What we’re looking for, someone with**:

- A Qualification in resource management or related disciplines
- 10+ years’ experience in Consent Management or a similar role (Essential)
Political awareness with proven management and leadership experience
- Advanced communication skills with the ability to establish and build working relationships
- Sound up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation (Building Act, Resource Management Act, Local Government Act, Local Government Official information and Meeting Act and relevant case law)
- Skilled and confident with computers, The Microsoft suite of programs and a range of database programs and financial systems
- Interpretive, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- A good understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi
- Effective leadership and management skills with the ability to develop and empower teams
- A current full New Zealand driver’s license
