What is it they say? “Do the mahi, get the treats.” Our Taupō-based engineers enjoy the best of both worlds, fulfilled with epic work by day, epic lifestyle the rest of the time. Nestled in the heart of the North Island ashore sparkling Lake Taupō, whether you’re into snowboarding, mountain biking, fishing, climbing, hiking, skiing, wakeboarding, or simply losing yourself in awe-inspiring scenery, it’s all here - and Taupō has a grand total of two sets of traffic lights, so you’ll get there fast.

Right now, we have six power stations in Taupō. We’re about to have a seventh, then start building the eighth and ninth, and are looking for senior and almost-senior Electrical Controls and Instrumentation Engineers keen to join for the ride. (These are all permanent roles, all full time, but the nitty-gritty of what/where/when will be worked out based on your experience and what you’re most interested in.)

As a Senior Controls and Instrumentation Engineer, you’ll provide technical leadership where it matters most, get stuck into a range of engineering projects, lead and mentor those coming through behind you, and be appreciated as a deep Subject Matter Expert (SME) in your area of expertise. If you’re not quite there yet,** we still want to hear from you. **Almost-Senior engineers will be supported on that pathway, and whether you’re a Senior or just-about, our engineers all enjoy career growth, great teammates, exciting projects, ongoing training and development, and leadership from some of the best in the biz, who genuinely care about their people.

**Qualifications**:
**Ko wai koe | About you**

A clear communicator, you’re comfortable providing candid technical advice to senior leadership, able to convey complex information simply, and can undertake and lead others through complex problem solving. You understand the commercial drivers behind projects and are known for contributing positively to contracting strategy, including technical scope and risk allocation for major projects, as well as being comfortable with change, able to adapt and shift gears as need be.

**What else you'll bring to the table**:

- Degree in engineering or equivalent qualifications and working towards professional registration (CPEng, Int PE) with Generation as a Major / Practice Area.
- ** At least 10 years’ experience** in the power sector (or similar heavy industry).
- A level of expertise and experience in Process Control including functional safety, gas hazardous areas, DCS, PLCs, telemetry systems, revenue metering, ICCP, instrumentation systems and their related communications systems
- Project management and contract management experience.
