The Senior Electrical Engineer’s role is to provide electrical discipline review of the engineering of geothermal power plant, currently procured under an EPC contract. The role has a strong emphasis on working with the EPC contractors to collaboratively deliver the engineering of power plant while protecting Contact’s interests both contractually and in achieving reliable, efficient, economic, and safely operating power plant.

This role will report to the Power Engineer Lead, but will also work the designated discipline lead and there is also a requirement to form and maintain collaborative relationships within Contact’s Electrical SMEs.

**Some of your day to day will include**:

- Provide Electrical discipline reviews of power plant designs delivered by external parties
- Provide Electrical advice into the process of engineering decision making
- Understand the environmental impacts of operating the plant and ensure that the site is compliant with the conditions of its environmental consents
- Undertake the power plant engineering in accordance with the Project Delivery Process.
- Provide advice to and support the electrical discipline lead
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with all industry safety rules, codes of practice and regulations (e.g. QMS, HSE, Resource Consents, Electricity and Gas Regulations, PECPR, Major Hazard Facilities)
- Liaise with project team members to support key discipline technical decisions

**Qualifications**

**Ko wai koe | About you**

A clear communicator, you’re comfortable providing candid technical advice to senior leadership, able to convey complex information simply, and can undertake and lead others through complex problem solving. You understand the commercial drivers behind projects and are known for contributing positively to contracting strategy, including technical scope and risk allocation for major projects, as well as being comfortable with change, able to adapt and shift gears as need be.

**What else you'll bring**:
Degree in engineering or equivalent qualifications ideally with recognized professional registration (CPEng, Int PE) with power generation (or similar) as a practice area.
- At least 5 to 10 years experience in the power sector (or similar heavy industry).
- A high level of expertise and experience in engineering in your area of expertise.
- A sound working knowledge, in your discipline, of the legislative framework Contact's Generation sites need to operate under.
- Project management and contract management experience.
