**About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga**
We have 2 positions available for this role.
The Commercial Manager will provide commercial management, guidance and oversight to enhance commercial activities across significant commercial agreements held by the Ministry. The Commercial Manager will primarily have responsibility for the Ministry’s commercial relationship with allocated strategic supplier(s), strategic panel arrangement(s) and other suppliers as required. There is also a strong component to improve the capability across the business with their contract management practice.
The Commercial Manager will work collaboratively with the Procurement team, stakeholders and wider Ministry staff to build and maintain sustainable long term supplier relationships which deliver quality outcomes for the Ministry objectives.
To be successful in this role you will have experience in a complex organisation (preferably Government), be highly developed managing suppliers, contract negotiation, and responding to complex commercial matters across the organisation.
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Review and negotiate commercial agreements, ensuring alignment with business objectives and legal compliance.
- Develop and implement commercial strategies in collaboration with key business stakeholders, resolving performance issues in managing high value and/or politically sensitive areas.
- Ability to provide operational advice, consult with a broad range of senior stakeholders in the public and private sectors.
- Working with key parts of the business to raise capability in contract management, aligned to the Ministry’s Strategic Relationship Management (SRM) framework.
- Highly developed strategic and critical thinking skills and analytical capability.
- Demonstrate effective influence at senior levels, enjoy working collaboratively having the ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Take the lead on pricing strategies, while driving competitive tension and delivering value for money.
- Contributing to an environment of continual process improvement.
**About you | Mōhou ake**
You will have the ability to build effective working relationships with key stakeholders and the ability to prioritise and multi-task in an environment where workloads can escalate quickly, and the challenges being navigated are often complex.
Paramount is a positive and ‘can do’ attitude. Experience in the public sector would be advantageous (but not necessarily essential).
You will also offer:
- Strong commercial nous - an understanding of what drives good service value and how to identify and minimise key commercial risks.
- The ability to respond well to a dynamic environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ideally a Tertiary or industry qualification in a related field (e.g. CIPS and/or a relevant tertiary qualification in Business or Accounting) or industry relevant experience.
- Some experience in data analysis and reporting.
- The ability to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
