- Field Asset Engineer - Tauranga
- Permanent, full-time position

**He kōrero mō mātou | About us**
At KiwiRail, we’re working to build a stronger, more sustainable Aotearoa. For over 150 years, our rail network has helped connect communities, people, and products across the motu.
Now, we're focused on the future — investing in safe, reliable, and climate-friendly transport solutions. We’re a team that values collaboration, respect, and care — and we’re proud to help keep New Zealand moving.

**He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role**
This is a practical, hands-on engineering role. As a Field Asset Engineer, you’ll manage a defined section of the rail network and take responsibility for its performance and safety.

Working closely with our engineers and delivery teams, you’ll:

- Inspect infrastructure and assess asset condition
- Review data, make recommendations, and plan maintenance activities
- Ensure track assets meet code and compliance requirements
- Prepare work orders and support field execution
- Provide technical input to renewals and upgrade planning

You’ll be part of a wider asset management team that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. The role includes regular travel across your area and some overnight stays.

**Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring**

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-focused engineer who thrives in a collaborative, safety-first environment.

You’ll have:

- A tertiary qualification in engineering is preferred (BEng, NZCE, or similar)
- Experience in civil engineering or infrastructure planning
- Understanding of asset management systems and principles
- Confidence using asset tools (e.g. Maximo, TSA, TQI)
- A strong commitment to safety, quality, and risk management
- Clear communication and the ability to collaborate across teams

It’s a bonus if you bring:

- Knowledge of rail codes, standards, and regulatory systems

**Nōu te rourou | What’s in it for you**

At KiwiRail, we value our people and the skills they bring. In return, we offer:

- A competitive salary and benefits package
- Ongoing professional development and technical training
- Support from a team that puts people and safety first
- The chance to work on nationally significant projects
- Meaningful, long-term career opportunities across our network
