ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Mechanical and Electrical Services Manager, you will be an integral leader within the team, providing strategic direction and technical expertise while overseeing the maintenance and development of essential plant on the port.
In this role, you will be empowered to lead and inspire a team of 25 skilled industrial electricians and fitters, along with contractors, to ensure that our infrastructure and services meet the highest standards. You will be responsible for ensuring that delivery to internal customers is timely and operationally efficient, allowing the business to maximise productivity via a fit-for-purpose asset maintenance plan. Reporting directly to the Property & Infrastructure GM, you will oversee the implementation of key projects, promoting safety and operational excellence across the business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead high-performing mechanical and electrical services teams to maintain and enhance Port of Tauranga's infrastructure, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory standards.
- Delivery a maintenance and response schedule to the internal customers that allows them to continue to offer an on-time and productive service to our external customers,
- Oversee critical plant maintenance, including container cranes, electrical installations, and hoppers.
- Champion safety and efficiency across the port's infrastructure projects, driving continuous improvements.
- Prepare budgets and develop strategic asset management plans for key plant and equipment.
- Stay ahead of technological trends, ensuring the most innovative and efficient solutions are implemented.
- Foster a culture of growth, providing coaching and development opportunities for your team to build future capability.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:
- Leadership experience: Proven ability to lead a skilled, diverse team of tradespeople in a complex industrial environment. Port industry experience is a plus, but not essential.
- Customer service: A strong understanding of how the team supports the business to deliver to external customers, how the Mechanical and Electrical team can support and enhance this, and experience in a similar environment is highly desirable.
- Technical expertise: A background in Engineering or Electrical qualifications, experience with high voltage infrastructure, and an understanding of the electricity supply market would be an advantage.
- Problem-solving mindset: A passion for innovative thinking and confident decision-making to drive progress.
- Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with a focus on fostering teamwork and collaboration.
- Commitment to safety: A proactive approach to health, safety, and environmental considerations in every aspect of your work.

The successful candidate will be asked to demonstrate their qualifications and experience to meet the role's requirements. Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand is essential.
