**About the Role**

We have the opportunity available to join the National Public Health Service (NPHS) Northern Region as a **Public Health Policy and Equity Senior Advisor**within the Planning, Policy and Performance team. This is a permanent, full-time role.
- and longer-term mahi. This will include analysis of significant policy developments/changes impacting public health, preparation of policy papers and technical advice and horizon scanning to identify emerging issues and opportunities of significance to the Public Health Service within the Northern Region.

**About the Team/Service/ Location**

The NPHS within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

**About you**

You will have experience in developing policy, working with, influencing and leading a range of stakeholders. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work across government and various organisations to understand and bring together a range of perspectives.
- A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in health, public sector or local government policy
- Some leadership experience, that may include having designed and managed a project of work and resources
- Demonstrable understanding & experience working in partnership with Māori and/or Pacific People communities
- Demonstrable understanding of, and commitment to, the specific relationship under te Tiriti o Waitangi, and Health NZ's role in improving outcomes for iwi and Māori communities.
