**Korero mo te turanga - About the role**

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is seeking a Pacific Engagement Adviser to support the success of Pacific students. Based in the Office of the Assistant Vice Chancellor Pacific, this is a permanent fulltime position working alongside a team of Pacific Engagement Advisers.

The key responsibility of the role is to support the academic success of Pacific students through:

- Delivering high quality academic and holistic support programmes aimed at strengthening Pacific success.
- Delivering events that support Pacific student community building.
- Actively engaging with faculty staff to support the academic achievement of Pacific students.

**O pumanawa - About you**

We are looking for a person who is passionate about supporting student success; has excellent communication and relationship-building skills; and has a strong understanding of Pacific cultures, values, and practices.

Key requirements:

- A tertiary degree.
- Strong understanding of Pacific cultures, values and approaches.
- Knowledge of New Zealand's tertiary settings, particularly how these relate to Pacific students.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with students as well as academic and professional staff.
- A good understanding of data, and evidence-based decision making.
