Ko mātou tēnei | Who we are
Te Komihana Tauhokohoko | The Commerce Commission is Aotearoa New Zealand's competition, fair trading, consumer credit and economic regulatory agency. Our mission is to make New Zealanders better off by ensuring our markets work well and consumers and businesses are confident participants in those markets.
The Commission is going through an exciting period of growth, driven by increases in its functions, duties and powers.

We are looking for a high-performing Adviser to join the Engagement and Operations Team in our Branch. Our team expertly guides the Branch through matters of engagement strategy, legislative policy and guidance, operational best practice, and reporting. We are active at improving the way we work, and the Adviser is a key role supporting operational excellence throughout the Branch.
Mō te tūranga | About the role
We have a busy, interesting programme of work to address poor business conduct and protect consumers in their everyday purchases of goods and services. Fair Trading staff are passionate, motivated, friendly and smart.
Working with the Fair Trading Engagement and Operations team, and the Strategy, Governance and Engagement Branch you will support the successful delivery of the Commission's Fair Trading strategy. We especially need:
- A visible, well-documented programme of work that delivers branch and organisation goals and strategy
- Information and analysis to enable sound decision-making by the Fair Trading leadership team
- Efficient processes, templates, tools and reports that allow us to communicate our accomplishments within and outside the Commission
- Stakeholder engagements that run smoothly, resulting in strong relationships
Reporting into the Engagement and Operations Manager, you will be a key member of the Fair Trading team as we plan, prioritise and report on our work. You will support us in developing and implementing clear business rules and policies as we work towards achieving our goals and strategy.
He kōrero mōu | About you
**To be successful in this role you will have**:
- Previous experience in supporting a busy programme of work, including breaking work down into manageable tasks that can be clearly assigned and delivered either by yourself or others.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience using templates, dashboards, project management tools, and techniques that support a modern project environment.
- Previous experience in identifying, analysing, and documenting business processes that create efficiency and are user-friendly.
- Great interpersonal and communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude
- Ability to craft clear and accurate reports using a range of evidence and information.
As a valued Adviser, you can be relied on for your expert operational and organisational skills and strengths across a range of task, project, and programme challenges. You will be attentive, delivery-focused, helpful, and constructive and enjoy working with a team.
You will maintain perspective, adjusting your effort according to what matters most to the Branch. You focus on the Fair Trading vision and strategy and your role in supporting that. While dramas are not for you, managing deadlines and multi-tasking are things you do with ease.
A team player, you will be proactive and able to think, write and communicate clearly. You will be inquisitive with sound critical thinking skills and comfortable and confident experimenting and innovating.
