About the NDIB
An exciting opportunity exists to work within the National Drug Intelligence Bureau (NDIB). The NDIB is hosted by the National Intelligence Centre (NIC) at Police National Headquarters and is a multi-agency workgroup comprising of representatives from the New Zealand Police, New Zealand Customs Service and Manatū Hauora (Ministry of Health). Our purpose is to understand New Zealand’s illicit drug environment and provide strategic intelligence and advice to support the reduction of drug related harm.
About the roles
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated Intelligence Analysts to enhance the capability of our team. Our current vacancies are open to Analysts at all levels (Analyst, Senior Analyst and Lead Analyst), and would suit experienced Intelligence professionals wanting to work in a strategic and collaborative environment.
**Key Accountabilities (Analyst/Senior/Lead)**:
- Proactively identify and analyse emerging or escalating trends relating to illicit drugs and associated harm.
- Demonstrate strengths in problem solving, critical thinking and using initiative to drive positive outcomes.
- Produce nationally standardised intelligence products and contribute to the core intelligence reporting and deliverables of the unit.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver a high standard of written reports that are clear and concise.
- Confident providing verbal briefings and presentations to a range of audiences.
- Develop and maintain a strong network of professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work effectively with people from a range of backgrounds.
- Display commitment to quality and continuous improvement in skills and ability.
- Manage competing priorities and demands to deliver timely, relevant, and influential Intelligence.
**Key Accountabilities (Senior/Lead)**:
- Work with limited supervision on wide ranging analytical problems.
- Lead by example with a committed, positive attitude towards teamwork and professional development.
- Support, coach, and mentor staff to develop intelligence tradecraft and technical skills.
- Provide peer review and quality assurance of intelligence products produced by the unit.
- Deliver and coordinate outputs that continue to innovate and exceed client expectations.
- Champion diverse worldviews, different perspectives, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, identifying opportunities to reflect these in intelligence products.
**Key Accountabilities (Lead)**:
- Provide expert technical advice and analytical guidance to Intelligence Analysts at all levels of experience.
- Translate organisational vision and strategic intent into Intelligence plans, activities, and outputs.
- Proactively identify training and development requirements and opportunities that benefit the wider team.

Special Requirements
- The successful applicant must reside in Wellington.
- Hold the NZ Diploma in Intelligence Analysis (NZDIA) or equivalent or able to complete NZDIA modules early in employment.
