The opportunity:
As the NZ Head of Internal Audit, you’ll have the exciting opportunity to combine your inspirational leadership with your passion for risk management and internal controls. You’ll lead, support and mentor a team of audit professionals to provide independent assessments of AIA NZ’s ability to manage and control risk and add value through your insights and recommendations.

Key responsibilities include:
- Plan, conduct, guide, and manage the audit team to effectively manage risk-based audits, reviews, and other special projects- Provide insights and recommendations which add value to the business- Manage relationships with key business stakeholders and develop rapport with business unit management through regular communication of changes in business operations, emerging risks, and potential issues- Lead discussion of issues and remedial action plans with the appropriate levels of management- Facilitate issuance of audit reports to management- Undertake research and share best practice and compliance requirements with the team.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- 12 + years' audit experience in the financial services sector (life insurance focus preferred)- Exceptional leadership skills with a proven ability to develop and support people to grow, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement- Demonstrable experience of influencing senior business leaders, strategic thinking and prioritisation and a goal-oriented focus- Stakeholder management skills, to build a trusted working relationships with all stakeholders including senior leaders, the Executive team, regulators and the external auditor- Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience in presenting to senior management, executive and board committees- Good understanding of IT/information security control principles and processes- Experience with the use of data visualisation (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and analytics tools, including audit interrogation software (e.g., ACL/Galvanize), or programming language (e.g., SQL, Python).- High level of integrity and ethics.
