**Salary band**: Senior Adviser - $78,817 - 124,570 (depending on skills and experience)
Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Adviser to work in the sustainable land use area, focusing on climate change and emissions reduction. Working across MPI, government and industry, you will be involved in programmes that support the primary sector as it responds to the significant and complex challenges posed by greenhouse gas, freshwater and other regulatory reforms.
This is an opportunity to work in a high profile and challenging area. You will be developing and delivering practice change programmes that support the primary sector to adapt and respond to climate change and reduce on-farm greenhouse gas emissions as well as address other sustainable land use issues.

**You will**:

- Help design and successfully deliver extension programmes to support landowners reduce on farm greenhouse gas emissions, adapt to climate change and implement wider sustainable land use issues.
- Provide expert advice on a range of climate change and sustainable land use issues
- Work closely with colleagues across MPI, other government agencies and sector representatives to support collaboration and alignment of extension initiatives for the primary sector.

**Mōu - About You The successful applicant will have**:

- A tertiary level qualification in related area or relevant experience
- Knowledge of sustainable land use issues, particularly climate change, and extension services in the primary sector
- Experience and understanding of working with a cross section of stakeholders, often in politically sensitive environments
- Experience in tikanga Māori to facilitate engagement processes and to effectively present information to different groups
- A strong track record of achieving results
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Excellent organisation skills and a proactive approach
- Ability to adopt a customer focused approach to delivering projects
- Understanding of New Zealand's Emissions Reduction Plan and National Adaptation Plan
- Knowledge of MPI business environment, its strategic priorities, strengths and weaknesses (desirable).
