The Waipā District - with key locations of Te Awamutu and Cambridge - is one of the fastest growing regions in New Zealand. It is anticipated that by 2050 an additional 25,000 people will be calling Waipā home. To prepare for this growth, and to welcome more residents to our district, we have over $130 million worth of our three water - water, wastewater and stormwater - infrastructure projects to deliver over the next 10 years, including new treatment plants, reservoirs and reticulation renewals - it's an exciting time to be part of Water Services at Waipā
Our community relies on the efficiency and compliance of our three water systems. With advancing technology and strict regulation at play, this is an exciting space to contribute to the development, maintenance and support of OT and IT systems. As a **Technical Support Analyst**, you are guaranteed to expand your technical expertise, extend your problem-solving capability and boost your skilful engagement with system users.
**About the Role**
The position provides technical support and service for the effective management of data, systems and hardware purposed to the Waipā Water Services Network. On a day-to-day basis, you will be engaged to:
- Provide first and second level technical assistance in response to onsite and offsite service requests.
- Maintain the accuracy of asset inventory and issue devices required within the unit.
- Ensure the security of OT data for minimised risk to compliance with drinking water and wastewater standards; and,
- Support our Senior Systems Engineer with diagnostics and resolution of technical issues relating to hardware, software and databases.
Some of the key software we use includes SCADA, Rockwell, Cisco, and VMware as well as a range of Microsoft software including Azure, SQL, Power BI, Office/Visio, and Active Directory.
The role is placed within a supportive team environment, which will provide you with an exceptional platform for growth and achievement. At Waipā District Council we are committed to promote better outcomes for our local community, and place value on our staff in achieving this goal. There is emphasis on ongoing professional development, career development opportunities, and health and wellbeing initiatives, including helpful subsidies and services, along with other staff benefits.
**What's Needed?**
- a Bachelor (Level 7) degree or higher qualification in Information Technology/Computing/ICT;
- at least 2-years' experience with ICT systems, industrial networking, inventory management, and software management processes in the IT or OT environment;
- an understanding and knowledge of Water Services (Drinking Water Standards for New Zealand) Regulations 2022; and
- experience with Regional Council Water/Waste compliance and regulation.
Existing competency with the above-mentioned software will be beneficial along with understanding of SD-WAN, VPN, MFA, Firewalls, EDR and Switching/Routing technology.
While the role is based out of our Te Awamutu office, some travel within the Waipā district may be required (at Council's reasonable expense) to fulfil your duties. As such, you will also need to have a full class 1 Driver's Licence and be comfortable to travel between treatment plants and pump stations within the Waipā District.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone with an optimistic approach and initiative in their work.
- You'll need to be adept at problem solving and troubleshooting, but also know when to escalate requests and incidents to the appropriate support levels.
- You will need to have an adaptable team approach, to communicate with and engage Waters Services team - truly working alongside them to ensure quality service delivery.
- And, always show an eager and analytical approach, to promote continuous improvement in your own professional capabilities, as well as that of the team.
