**The Role**

We have a unique opportunity for a collaborative and experienced **Research Investment Manager** to lead our Research Investment Office function and support Scion's strategic investment activities. This role involves managing relationships with government and industry stakeholders, guiding investment decisions, and championing the design and evaluation of impactful research initiatives.

**Key Responsibilities**
- ** Lead Research Investment Stewardship**:Provide expert advice on funding strategies, ensuring high-quality proposals and effective investment management across Scion.
- ** Manage Funding Relationships**:Act as the primary contact with government funding agencies (MBIE, MfE, MPI), provide horizon scan for opportunities and changes with national and international research funding bodies, and ensuring transparent communication.
- ** Oversee Strategic Science Investment Fund (SSIF)**:Lead investment prioritisation, manage reporting, and conduct science quality reviews.
- ** Champion Impact**:Work with senior leadership to embed impact-focused practices in Scion's research proposals, ensuring outcomes align with the organization's strategic goals.

**Experience and Skills**
- Postgraduate qualification (PhD, Master's) in a relevant field or extensive experience in research delivery and support.
- Proven leadership expertise in science and research investment management, including navigating government science funding systems.
- Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in writing proposals, managing projects, and facilitating complex meetings.
- A leader with strong relationship-building skills, both internal and external, who operates with a team orientated approach.
