**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to join our Health Promotion team as **Senior Advisor - Harmful Commodities**. The primary purpose of this role is to support the implementation, development and delivery of strategic projects within the Toi Ora group in Health Promotion. Our team leads the promotion of Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all through reducing the impact of harmful commodities. We work to achieve equity in health outcomes, particularly those associated with tobacco and vaping. Our role focuses on sector coordination and national engagement, as well as leadership of the NPHS action on harmful commodities, including tobacco and vaping.

**Mōu | About you**

You are someone with at least five years' experience in developing and delivering successful government initiatives. You have a strong results orientation, and are able to lead teams and individuals to deliver projects on time and to a high standard. You have proven financial and risk management experience at a senior level. You're an excellent communicator with brilliant interpersonal skills, including provision of written and oral communication across cultures and across a broad sector of organisations and individuals.

- A tertiary qualification, and/or comparable experience working at a leadership level
- Experience in the area of tobacco control is advantageous
- Demonstrated experience facilitating groups and leading meetings
- Experience in dealing with high-level officials, senior management, and stakeholders in government, community and/or commercial organisations
- Ability to manage significant budgets and a proven and demonstrated ability in delivering value for money from suppliers and stakeholders
- Proven experience of working with Māori, Pacific peoples and diverse NGOs and/or communities
- An ability to prioritise issues and activities and to delegate work effectively
