Te Kupenga Hauora Māori (TKHM) is the Department of Māori Health within the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. TKHM is committed to achieving excellence in teaching, learning, research, and service with a strong focus on advancing Māori health and equity. Our department provides leadership in Māori health and education, grounded in te reo me ōna tikanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
**Job Description** Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**
We are seeking a Professional Teaching Fellow to join Te Kupenga Hauora Māori, contributing to the delivery and development of high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment with a strong focus on te reo Māori and te ao Māori. In this role, you will support students across health professional programmes to engage with Māori language, culture, and knowledge systems, ensuring graduates are better equipped to work effectively with Māori communities.
You will play an active part in the review, planning, and development of curricula and resources, embedding te reo and tikanga Māori across teaching and learning activities. This will include preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, and assessments; designing and revising learning materials; and incorporating innovative approaches to ensure relevance and impact.
Beyond your own teaching, you will provide mentorship and support to other staff within TKHM, particularly in strengthening te reo and te ao Māori capability across the department. You will also participate in curriculum committees, Boards of Studies, and teaching meetings, contributing to strategic planning and the continuous improvement of our programmes.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the University’s commitment to Māori health advancement, equity, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, while helping to build Māori health workforce capacity through education.
This is a part time, Fixed Term, 16 hours per week (0.4FTE) position.

We are looking for someone with:
**Essential**:
- A postgraduate qualification in a relevant academic discipline
- Experience in teaching and curriculum development at tertiary level
- High proficiency in te reo Māori and expertise in tikanga Māori
- Experience in developing educational materials
**Preferred**:
- Postgraduate qualification in education
- Experience in health professional education
- Experience working within a Kaupapa Māori approach to teaching and learning
