Whakatipu Te Kakano: 'Growing the Seed.'

- After mahi that makes a difference in people's lives?
- Start date, January 2026
- East Tamaki South Auckland

'He mea nui rawa ki a mātou o Te Whare Takiura o Manukau te kawenga ki te manaaki i te hunga tāngata, ngā hapori me ngā kaiwhakawhiwhi mahi o Tāmaki ki te Tonga.'

'Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) recognises the special obligation we have to serve the people, communities and employers of South Auckland.

MIT is at the forefront of changing lives with vocational education, with a strong vision of getting people into great jobs. We are looking for a Teacher of te reo Māori at our School of Secondary Tertiary Studies (SSTS) with a real passion for vocational education, to support our ākonga (students) to gain their NCEA from levels 1-3.

The Secondary Tertiary High School is quite different to a conventional mainstream school setting. It has a small roll (200 students) and a low teacher-student ratio because its purpose is to manaaki our rangatahi for whom mainstream high schools are not meeting their needs. We provide a high level of pastoral care and dedicated teaching time, and plenty of whānau involvement to support our rangatahi to be successful.

You will work with some incredible people who are passionate about the positive impact we make to the communities we serve. We offer a work environment which values genuine people who care for others, are well-connected, open and approachable and strive for excellence in all we do.

**Job Reference: 29344**

**Applications Close**: Thursday, 20th November, 2025.
