**_About our team/Mō te tīma_**

At the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine at the University of Otago, we work to understand why some people are healthy and some are not, how to prevent illness and injury, how people's health can be improved through working with communities, how political systems and health organisations affect health, and other issues relating to the health of populations.

**_The role/Te mahi_**

We have the opportunity to hire a permanent Teaching Fellow/Senior Teaching Fellow to support teaching in the Public Health paper, PUBH202.

This will involve the preparation of learning materials, student support, as well as the delivery of some class discussions and tutorials. Additionally, you will also assist with assessment, reporting, and the management of electronic learning platforms related to Public Health teaching.

**_Skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako_**
- A postgraduate qualification in Public Health.
- Sound knowledge of Public Health at a level appropriate to postgraduate and undergraduate papers.
- Aptitude for effective teaching at tertiary level.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work with databases and learning management systems (Blackboard and Moodle).
- Able to work effectively as a member of a team and independently.
- Able to work well with students and staff from differing academic and cultural backgrounds and at all levels of the institution.
- A commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi

This is a permanent, semester time only position at 0.4FTE. Teaching takes place in Semester 2 each academic year.

Appointment will be made at either Teaching Fellow or Senior Teaching Fellow level depending on qualifications and experience.
