The Role/Te MahiWe invite applications for a Teaching Fellow/Senior Teaching Fellow with expertise in Exercise Prescription. The focus of the role is to coordinate and deliver effective research informed teaching for SPEX 205 Physical Activity & Health and within our postgraduate programme.
The general expectations for the role include the following key tasks:
- Coordinating and delivering effective research-informed undergraduate teaching and learning in SPEX 205 Physical Activity and Health, including marking assessments and exams, providing constructive and timely feedback to students on their progress towards learning outcomes.
- Contributing to teaching and assessment within our team-taught postgraduate papers in clinical exercise physiology.
- Providing supervision to students undertaking an exercise prescription practicum at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Promoting the School's efforts to understand and realise the letter and the spirit of the University's Māori Strategic Framework, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako
- A post-graduate qualification related to sport and exercise science, physical activity and health, clinical exercise physiology or equivalent.
- Experience of effective teaching at a tertiary or secondary institution.
- A commitment to upholding values, tikanga, kawa and traditions, as guided by Kāi Tahu who are mana whenua in the region.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently and in a team.
- Suitable professional experience working in exercise prescription.
- Registration or accreditation with a relevant professional body, such as Sport & Exercise Science New Zealand, or Clinical Exercise Physiology New Zealand.

This is a fixed-term, part-time (0.7 FTE) position, from 1 July 2025 to 29 May 2026.
The appointment range for a Teaching Fellow is $73,166 - $99,420 and Senior Teaching Fellow is $102,092 to $132,796 (pro-rata). Appointment level will be dependent on academic achievement, skills, and experience.
