**Business Group**: Regulatory Services
**Branch**: Regulatory and Identity Services
**Salary Range**: $129,271 - $160,871
**Lead the Conversation. Shape the Future.**
The Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) is leading one of the most significant regulatory changes in New Zealand's financial system - the transition to a **single AML/CFT supervisor**. We're looking for a **Stakeholder Engagement Lead** to drive sector engagement and ensure this change is understood, supported, and successful.
The Sector Engagement Lead is at the heart of the Single Supervisor Transition (SST) project, which will see DIA become New Zealand's single AML/CFT supervisor by mid-2026. This is a major regulatory shift impacting thousands of reporting entities across multiple sectors, including law, accounting, real estate, and financial services. The workstream's purpose is to ensure this transition is communicated clearly, consistently, and transparently, so stakeholders understand what is changing, why it matters, and what actions they need to take.
The workstream will deliver a comprehensive engagement strategy, supported by sector mapping, tailored messaging, and a suite of communication materials. Post-transition, the workstream will maintain engagement to confirm understanding, address residual challenges, and refine support tools, ensuring confidence in the new supervisory model and strengthening New Zealand's AML/CFT framework.
**What you'll do**
- Develop and deliver a **sector engagement strategy** that builds trust and confidence
- Lead targeted communications across diverse industries utilising multi-channels eg: webinars, in-person briefings, newsletters, LinkedIn updates, and industry events
- Create two-way engagement channels to capture feedback using mechanisms like online forms, roundtables, and surveys to capture sector sentiment and inform continuous improvement and respond to concerns
- Work closely with RBNZ, FMA, and industry bodies to ensure alignment and consistency
- Shape messaging that explains **what's changing, why, and what it means for stakeholders**
**What we're looking for**
- Proven experience leading **stakeholder engagement and communication strategies** for complex, high-profile projects
- Ability to translate complex regulatory changes into clear, actionable messages
- Strong relationship-building skills across government, industry, and professional associations
- Strategic thinker with a knack for navigating complexity and influencing at senior levels
This is your chance to play a pivotal role in a nationally significant reform that strengthens New Zealand's AML/CFT regime and enhances our international reputation. You'll work in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment where your expertise will make a real difference.
**What we offer**:
- Flexible working arrangements to support work-life balance
- A collaborative and inclusive culture that values diversity
- Professional development opportunities and career growth
- The chance to work on a high-profile, nationally significant project A purpose-driven role that contributes to the integrity of New Zealand's financial system
**Applications close**: 5pm, Monday, 6 October 2025.
