Ready to shape the world with spatial intelligence?
We’re on the lookout for a Senior GIS Consultant to join our dynamic Geospatial team in the Land & Water service group, based in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland. This is your chance to lead the way in how we use data and digital tools to design smarter, more sustainable infrastructure, and make a real difference.
You’ll be at the heart of major, carbon-conscious projects that help shape thriving communities across Aotearoa. From digital twins to spatial apps, your work will influence how we plan, build, and care for the world around us.
What’s the mahi?
Technical Delivery- Build cutting-edge GIS solutions using ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, and web tools.- Automate workflows with FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) to streamline data delivery.- Lead the creation of digital tools, dashboards, and spatial apps that bring design and planning to life.- Integrate GIS with BIM, CAD, and engineering platforms to drive smarter project outcomes.
Innovation & Digital Leadership- Foster a culture of curiosity, innovation, and continuous improvement.- Keep your finger on the pulse of emerging tech and tools — and bring them into practice.- Collaborate with Aurecon’s digital leaders to develop, test, and scale new spatial solutions.- Share your knowledge through case studies, articles, and presentations.
Project & Client Engagement- Lead spatial workstreams on complex, multidisciplinary projects.- Partner directly with clients to shape project vision and deliver meaningful, measurable outcomes.- Contribute to proposals and bids, helping us grow our digital spatial offering.
Team Leadership- Mentor and uplift junior GIS consultants and spatial analysts.- Create a positive, collaborative, and inclusive team culture.- Support team planning, resource allocation, and capability development.
What you bring- 10+ years’ experience in GIS, ideally in consulting or the utilities sector.- A sharp client focus and ability to win work and lead delivery.- Confident project management and stakeholder engagement skills.- A passion for mentoring and lifting up others in the team.- Technical mastery across the ESRI suite (ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise), FME (Form + Flow), and digital engineering integration.
At Aurecon, we don’t just hire experts — we empower them to reimagine what’s possible. If you’re ready to lead with impact and bring bold ideas to life, we’d love to hear from you.
What’s in it for me?
You really can bring your whole self to work and be confident that your voice will be heard. We don't just claim that we're inclusive and innovative, it's proven by the independent awards and accreditations we have gained, and we're always seeking new ways to prove (and improve) our commitment to diversity. In May 2023 we were the first engineering company in Aotearoa to receive the Gender Tick, led by our people for our people.
Our Māori strategy (He Rautaki Māori) won two Good Design awards in 2022 for its outstanding contribution in bringing Te Āo Māori and digital innovation into operations and decision-making processes.
On top of this, you will have access to competitive remuneration, a 4% employer contribution to KiwiSaver, flexible work hours and locations, working holidays, and remote work options. Outside of work, you will be further supported with benefits such as highly competitive paid parental leave, cultural holiday swaps, one of the best employee (and their family) wellbeing platforms in the country, and more
Ready to bring ideas to life?
Your background, unique needs, and individuality are valued here. We are committed to ensuring that you are well supported so that our recruitment process is fair, equitable, inclusive, and available to everyone. Please let us know what adjustments or support you need to make the recruitment process more accessible to you.
