Toitū Te Whenua - Land Information New Zealand is undergoing a period of change which will see us transform and revolutionise the way we are providing our services for all New Zealanders. To support us in achieving our goals and optimising our services, we are looking for a passionate, motivated, and high performing Senior Geospatial Developer to join our Location Information business group.
This exciting opportunity will see you lead design, deployment, testing, and maintenance of geospatial products and tools in an AWS environment. You will spend your time in a dynamic purpose driven team, with plenty of chances to share your expertise, mentor others, and contribute to Open Source Software projects.
You will have the opportunity to shape Toitū Te Whenua best practice development communities and champion open standards and system interoperability within the Open Source community. Part of your role is keeping the Location Information business group creative and innovative in the ongoing improvement of its systems and processes.
You will work collaboratively across the team to translate requirements into engineering design, communicating technical ideas clearly to both general and technical audiences and providing input to user training support and documentation.

- Working knowledge of AWS including services for infrastructure deployment, monitoring, databases, computation, and web delivery
- Ability to deliver full infrastructure automation
- Proven experience building scalable and reliable infrastructure
- Experience of multiple procedural and object-oriented programming languages and development frameworks (Python, Typescript)
- Knowledge and experience testing and deploying systems including tools for Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) (Docker, Github Actions)
- Understanding and experience of relational database design, queries, and administration (PostgreSQL/PostGIS)
- Proven experience using and administering Linux and familiarity with shell scripting
- Providing feedback on user stories from a quality perspective, and promoting bug prevention strategies, testability, accessibility and other QA concepts

The salary range for this position is $95,846 - $129,674
