Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do
The Protective Security team provides the Chief Security Officer with assurance that the Ministry has a robust protective security environment that is compliant with the Government's Protective Security Requirements (PSR), and with the capability, policies, and procedures to effectively maintain and deliver that environment.
You will play a critical role in providing specialist protective security advice and support to the Manager Protective Security. You will contribute to strategy development, implementing policies, and maintaining up-to-date security documentation that aligns with the national standards set in the Government's Protective Security. You will conduct threat assessments, investigate incidents, and offer recommendations to prevent or mitigate further occurrences for our facilities. You will manage national security clearances, including oversight of new requests, renewals, and maintaining the National Security Clearance Register. You will support the Protective Security Governance Group and oversee Parliamentary Access Cards. You will be a leader in process improvement, building relationships, and championing security initiatives whilst embracing equity and Treaty of Waitangi obligations to help us safeguard our nation.

Ko ngā pukenga ōu - What You'll Bring
- Eligibility for a SECRET national security clearance and New Zealand citizenship.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
- Familiarity with the Government's Protective Security Requirements (PSR) and the New Zealand Information Security Manual (NZISM).
- Aptitude for identifying and escalating potential business risks for appropriate treatment.
