**About the role and experience required**:
Reporting to the General Manager - Fixed Wing, the role will champion and support a sustainable culture that lives and breathes safety - leading and promoting safety best practice and providing the necessary visibility and proactive leadership within the Fixed Wing business.

The role provides an opportunity for someone to assist Airwork in moving to a highly proactive model, engaging and mentoring to bring the best out of people, while having the oversight and coordination of all safety management system policies, procedures and activities.

We anticipate you will already have significant Aviation experience as you will need to be considered capable and qualified by CAA, in order to hold the status of Senior Person through nomination and CAA acceptance. This is an essential part of certificating an aviation organisation.

You will also be a proactive and effective strategic specialist and lead with an ‘outcome focussed attitude’ to provide solutions in a timely manner.

Collaborative by nature, you will share knowledge and advise senior leaders as well as your safety team, to develop the safety strategy and effectively operationalise this across the business.

Working with key stakeholders and the executive, including those from other Airwork business units, you will create, implement and drive the safety strategy, process and systems, including investigations across the business.

**Skills and experience required**:

- Relevant Tertiary qualifications
- Must have held Senior Person Status previously or have strong ability to gain this
- Exceptional safety leadership experience needed within the Aviation sector
- Proven skillset in creating and operationalising a SMS within the sector
- Proven success as a coach/mentor with excellent communication skills
- Proactive with a focus such as Safety II would be preferred
- Significant investigation skillset, along with full technical and legislative knowledge
