Hill Labs is a nationwide analytical testing laboratory, offering quality services to clients across multiple market sectors including agriculture, environmental and food.

We have an excellent opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join our leading New Zealand organisation in a part time permanent capacity. This position is based in our commercial laboratory in Christchurch. We are looking for someone who is self-disciplined with the ability to follow set procedures and take the initiative when necessary.

**This role will be working in the Microbiology team part time (8 Hours); Rostered hours will be Friday.**

As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out laboratory operational activities to ensure efficient ongoing delivery of a quality analytical service to our clients whilst gaining practical training in a professional laboratory environment.

**KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Responsible for preparation of in house media such as agars and broths for the microbiology lab.
- Conducting lab operational duties to ensure efficient ongoing delivery of a quality analytical service to our clients
- Calibration and maintenance of lab equipment
- Knowledge of and an ability to follow ISO 17025 guidelines
- Working closely with the extended team within the branch

**ABOUT YOU**
- May have a tertiary qualification in science or relevant discipline
- May have practical and theoretical chemistry and/or microbiology knowledge
- Previous commercial laboratory experience advantageous
- Excellent time management, communication and organisational skills
- Good attention to detail and excellent computer skills
- Able to work effectively (individually and within a team environment) with minimum supervision by following detailed laboratory instructions.
