**Āu Mahi | What You Will Do**
We have an exciting opportunity for two Civil Engineering Laboratory Technicians to join the Civil and Natural Resource Engineering. One will be based in our Electronics Laboratory.
Engaging with students and researchers directly in the laboratory, you'll have the gratifying experience of witnessing your designs actively contributing to their projects.
Our technicians will work across our respective laboratories (Structures, Fire, Fluids, Geotech, Pavements, Concrete, Electronics, Workshop), however there is the opportunity to specialise in particular fields.
**Mōu | Who You Are**
A successful applicant for this role will have a minimum 5 years experience in relevant industry/laboratory experience within any of the abovementioned areas, and may include the following (not all required):
- An interest and understanding of the engineering research environment and of technical experimental design, to support student development in laboratory and research activities
- Skilled in welding various metals, machining diverse materials to precise tolerances, and experienced with plastic composites, soldering, and basic workshop techniques such as drilling, filing, and tapping.
- Metal trade-based skill (Fabrication)
- Experience with the operation of Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machinery.
- Specialist mechanical engineering skills and broader experience with LabVIEW, hydraulic control software. (Desirable)
- Proficient computer user including competence in Microsoft Office suite & internet programmes and logging/data acquisition software.
- Experience in the use of data logging and control software (including optical sensors),
- Experience in Electronics and Computer Engineering.
- General skills and experience of trades to supplement Specialist Chemistry skills,
- Experience working with hydraulic systems
