**About the role**: We are currently recruiting for a **Laboratory Technician** within our Civil Engineering Laboratory team based in Christchurch. With a full forward workload including some challenging & diverse projects ahead of us, we are excited to be able to offer this opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated, and skilled person in our business.

You will be assisting our team with sampling, testing, and reporting of construction materials, working closely with the quarry crushing operations, asphalt plant, and the construction and paving divisions of the company.

This is a hands-on and physical job, requiring a reasonable degree of physical capability.

The nature of the work may require night shifts and weekend work, as well as occasionally travelling to other regions and staying away from home.

Your onsite training and mentoring will be tailored to your needs with a view to progressing your career as far as you want to take it.

**Duties will include**:

- Performing laboratory testing of aggregates and bituminous products to a high level of accuracy.
- Field testing at engineering projects undertaken by Isaac Construction and external clients.
- Participating in activities necessary for the running of the laboratory and its equipment.

**Key Skills & Experience**:

- Having scientific, engineering, or construction training, or laboratory experience is a definite advantage but not essential.
- Be experienced in the use of MS Word and Excel.
- Be comfortable working sole charge and in a team environment.
- Hold a minimum Class 1 full clean driver licence is essential (being able to drive a manual vehicle is an advantage).
