About the role
Our Bacteriology Department is looking for a
Medical Laboratory Technician with a positive, helpful attitude to join us in
our mission of providing a high-quality service within our laboratory.
Canterbury Health Laboratories is the largest
medical laboratory in the South Island which is also a major secondary/tertiary
referral centre. We have a modern and well-equipped lab including a good
range of specialist equipment. Our laboratory is open 24 hours a day, providing
timely results to our clinicians to ensure our patients are getting the right
treatment, at the right time. Our Bacteriology Department is made up of a team
of Medical Laboratory Scientists, Medical Laboratory Technicians,
Microbiologists, and Registrars.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity for a
Medical Laboratory Technician who is passionate about developing their career
with Canterbury Health Laboratories. The days and hours required for this
position are Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm and Sunday 12pm to 5pm.

**In this role, you will be responsible for**:

- Providing a high-quality service to clients;
- Participating in the preparation of stained slides and the various

laboratory procedures involved;
- Giving immediate technical assistance when required for urgent and
frozen section cases;
