Canterbury Health Laboratories (CHL) is a busy diagnostic facility providing services to inpatients and outpatients at Te Whatu Ora Waitaha (Canterbury). You will be working for the largest medical laboratory within Te Waipounamu

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Specimen Reception and Registration Receptionist to join our Pathology Reception and Registration Department. As the first point of contact for our valued clients, you will play a crucial role in providing a high-quality service experience.

This is a part time position required to work 15 to 25 hours per week between 08:00 and 18:00. This position may require occasional weekend or evening work to ensure seamless service provision.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

- Utilizing the laboratory information system to register patients, add tests, and access results.
- Perform a variety of duties within the assigned work area.
- Communicate accurate and timely information to the Section Head or Service Manager.
- Answer incoming telephone calls, providing clients with laboratory results or other relevant information.
- Undertake additional duties as reasonably directed by the Section Head or Service Manager.
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment, adhering to all safety protocols to prevent harm to oneself and others.
- Strive for quality in all tasks performed to promote continuous quality improvement.
- Separate and process samples in accordance with established guidelines.
- Provide a high-quality service to clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.

This role requires the following:
**Essential**
- Previous customer service reception or telephonist experience.
- Customer focused communication, articulate, clear and friendly style.
- Administrative experience with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Complete discretion and confidentiality (in accordance with the Privacy Act)
- Organisation skills with the ability to prioritise and multitask as the situation demands.
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook)
